How it works
What happens when Google Meet is connected
The Meet link is not generated separately and pasted in. It is requested as part of the event insert, through conferenceData.createRequest with conferenceDataVersion: 1, so the link belongs to the event every attendee already has.
The request id is derived deterministically from the booking id. Google treats that id as an idempotency key, so a retried insert after a network blip returns the same conference instead of leaving one booking with two different Meet URLs.
Event types whose location is not Google Meet (phone, in person, or a custom link) do not request a conference at all.
